Bodegas Faelo - Enoturismo
A family vineyard with over a century of history, where the traditions of wine production are still nurtured today, including old customs related to the manual pressing of grapes.
Bodegas Faelo is a small vineyard in Matola, near Elche, run by the fourth generation of a family of winemakers. Its history dates back to the time of Rafael's grandfather, called Faelo, who was already involved in wine production here in the 1930s.
For many years, the family's wines were sold only in bulk. It was not until 2000 that Jaime Soto and his father decided to start bottling them.
The vineyard is housed in a traditional, over a century-old farmhouse. It has preserved the old equipment for pressing grapes, includingafollaor, i.e. a special place where the fruit was crushed with the feet.
Every year, the Festa de la Verema is also organized here – a grape harvest festival, during which participants can see and even try the traditional trampling of grapes on their own.
On a daily basis, you can visit the vineyard, learn about the history of the family and taste the wines produced here, served with regional delicacies.
